Hubby and I have always joked about Kia Souls when we see them on the road, wondering if we were gonna spot a hamster driving. Now that I have had a chance to cruise the streets in one, I am not joking anymore. The 2014 Kia Soul is something any mom should have, it’s hip and stylish and fits your needs. Check it out!
Being a Kia owner already, I was excited to see what revamps they had done to the 2014 Kia Soul. It was one of the Kia models we had not had a chance to check out yet. The one I had a chance to drive was a sweet cherry red color. There were so many great feature for me to play with. The Soul has an AWESOME panoramic moon roof. It extends from the driver all the way to the back passengers. It was really cool to view through on a clear starry night. The kids wouldn’t let me drive without it open.
Some of my favorite features on the car were the push start ignition. It took us a while to get used to it because I am always used to losing and searching for my keys. With this feature, there’s none of that. Just keep your key in your purse and when you get near the car you push the handle button and it unlocks the car! My favorite feature is the in dash navigation system. It had SIRIUS radio, great navigation, and great Bluetooth features for my phone. The 2014 Kia Soul features a brand new UVO (Your Voice) eServices system with a touch screen that offers great entertainment, navigation, and connectivity. The touch screen was my #1 favorite feature of this car.
Let me side track and tell a little story. We own a 2008 Kia Sedona minivan. I tried to avoid the whole minivan thing for YEARS, but alas I had to upgrade. Now that my kids are older the Kia Soul still fits my large children, and it has the funk and technology that I love. It’s not just a car, but it’s a mobile entertainment center on wheels. You can customize the light colors on the speakers. You can jam to your tunes using the decent radio system, plus there is even a hidden compartment you can store items goodies or even fill with ice and pop.
The ride on this vehicle was really smooth. Actually it made me realize how rough the ride was in my Ford Fiesta. Despite being a bigger car, it has the turn radius of a smaller compact car which is nice, because it’s awful to drive cars that drive like tanks.
The 2014 Kia Soul actually returned my love for driving on the open road. We took it the 2 hour drive down to the Mayo Clinic. You can ask the hubby, he’s the one that always drives. With this car, I wouldn’t give the keys up.
The only downside I found to the car is the storage. Most of the interior is taken up by the seating and head space of the car. It was tight fitting groceries for a family of five in the back of the trunk. Even with this con, I liked this car so much that I am planning on buying one when we are in the market for a new car.
The 2014 Kia Soul gets about 27mpg average, and starts at $14,900 MSRP, but models like this one usually run closer to $27,000. If you’re in the market for a mid sized car, it’s definitely a car I would recommend for families with a few small children (not more than 2) or families with older kids out of car seats.
