When we moved from Florida to Indiana four years ago, people looked at us like we had four heads. I guess I got that because it was a MAJOR climate change, but I really didn’t expect the same reaction when we told people we were moving to Minnesota.
Lucky for us, we are here after a great 10 hour road trip. We are still waiting on our stuff but are all settled in our new home in the snowy north. Luckily enough for us, it’s the end of winter here, and now we just have to wait for the snow to melt and spring to show up.
It was a bit nerve racking, but we rented this house without ever seeing it in person. (Terrifying experience, but not too bad if you do your homework) Jenny, our rental agent, was/is absolutely amazing and made the experience very pleasant, and we were able to find a house that was just PERFECT for our first year up in Minnesota.
After wading through, what seemed like, 15 million offers to wire money to Nigeria, we were able to find a great three bedroom home near the public transportation, Mall of America, and only 15 minutes from Mr. Crunchy’s new job! It’s in a quiet little neighborhood, and we can ride our bikes to the local library. (Yup, we are dorks only here one day and already have our library cards)
I think the best thing about this house is the fact it has a LARGE family room in the basement that we are letting our girls share. It’s almost the whole size of the bottom floor. Our son gets his own room which is on the top floor, and we get the main floor of the house, which makes it easier on us because the only bathroom is on this floor.
We are really close to the Minneapolis Airport so I have to get used to hearing planes fly overhead, but it’s actually a bonus because we can hop the light rail and head straight to the airport rather than having to pay to park there!
The best part for me is that I have my very own office! A whole room that I can call Crunchy central! It even has the door to keep the kids out. I had my own office in the old house, but it didn’t have a door it was just a giant room. This room is big enough to even put my crafting table in. It’s going to be like my own mini mom cave! Granted right now it has a computer sitting on the floor, but I am sure it will be fabulous when it is done!
Don’t even have a desk, and already blogging away 😉Moving to an area where you have no family can be slightly terrifying, but I think Mr. Crunchy and I have it down to a science. This move so far has been rather decent. I am expecting a few hiccups, but I am just glad to have a place to call “home” and a new place to explore. I can’t wait to share all of our new Minnesota adventures with you!

Welcome to MN! I love this state, but like FL too…only visited FL so to live there might be another story, especially in the summer.

Thanks so much Margaret. We haven’t been here too long, but already feels like a much better fit for our family.

Welcome from a fellow Minnesota crazy crafter!! I am impressed at how you have it ‘all’ together, that is without your stuff! Have a great time exploring. Wondering if you will find additional niches I don’t know about.

Thanks, Lorri. I am excited to explore the city. I am an estate sale junky, so I am sure I will have some tidbits to share on that. As far as crafting, I can wait to see what I can find 😉
