You may not know this about me, but I kind of have a love affair with alfredo sauce. When I decided to attempt to eat more whole foods, I knew I would just have to find a way to make my own homemade alfredo sauce.
Homemade Alfredo Sauce
What is even better yet is that this homemade alfredo sauce with cream is gluten free. Because we don’t use any flours in this easy sauce, it’s super easy to learn how to make homemade alfredo sauce so it has no gluten!
Alfredo sauce isn’t just for pasta either! You can use it for dipping sauces and baked potatoes as well. No matter how much I try to eat marinara sauce over alfredo sauce, alfredo wins hands down every time.
There is just something comforting about the creamy, tangy flavor that comes with a good spot of this creamy white sauce.
Both of my daughter’s are a quarter Italian, and this is one of my favorites to teach them to cook. Even though they get that from their father’s side, it’s a fun way to help them learn a little bit more about dishes that might be served if they ever visited their family in Italy.
Easy Alfredo Sauce Recipe
Though I highly guess this isn’t an authentic Italian alfredo, it’s still fun to spend time with the kids in the kitchen. It helps them learn a little bit more about their family roots and is a fun time for us to spend some quality time together. As the girls are getting older, we are teaching them how to cook more and more. This recipe is a great one to teach kids how to cook.
My favorite way to serve this recipe is over an al dente bed of fettucini or served with some warm bread sticks and use it as a dipping sauce! I could easily eat half a bowl of this all by myself that way! It’s also simply amazing in this chicken alfredo bake or this shrimp fettucine alfredo recipe!
Tips on Making the Best Homemade Alfredo Sauce from Scratch
There are just a few tips to make your homemade alfredo sauce amazeballs. I’ll tell you I’ve definitely burnt my sauce a time or too.
Watch Your Milk: When heating up dairy based products, it is REALLY important to start low and slow with the heat. Milk scalds and burns.
Not something to freak out about, but milk is a little baby that likes to be coddled and caressed until it’s nice and warm and bubbly.
Little Bit At a Time: When adding the cheese to the heavy cream, dip your finger in to make sure that the milk base is warm. Then sprinkle a little cheese in at a time. Once you can’t see any more strands this is when you add more. Stir, stir, stir.
Spice, Spice, Baby: Tasting your sauce is really important. There is NO right or wrong answer. Just have FUN with it. Add a little dash of oregano, a lot of splash of garlic. Flip it, reverse it, switch. Play around with your spices until you are in LOVE, baby.

I only had 1/2 the parmesan and added asagio to complete the recipe and it was super delicious! I served it with 1/2 & 1/2 zucchini noodles and chickpea pasta.
This recipe was very easy to make and my family said it was better than the traditional one I make. It is a keeper!
