When I was a young parent, I vowed to NEVER own a mini van. I was the cool young parent, too hip for the suburban soccer mom look. This momma would never own the mom wagon! This was my vow!
Now fast forward 14 years and three kids later, and you know what I drive? Yup, a minivan! I held out for as long as I could, but when you had three kids in the back of a sedan and you were having Alice in Wonderland nightmares of their arms and legs sticking out the windows it was time to get an upgrade.
When we decided to bite the bullet and by a minivan, there was only option on our mind and that was Kia. We did lots of research and for everything that we wanted in our car and the price range that we could afford Kia was the only answer.
Despite my initial hatred of minivans, I have to say that buying my Kia Sedona LX was probably THE best car purchase my family has ever made. No, really. I didn’t think that you could really love a car like this.
We’ve owned our car since 2009 and we have had NO problems with it at all. It’s saved our sanity on many road trips, including visiting and then moving to Minneapolis twice. (For those that don’t know that’s a 10 hour car ride with three tweens/teens)
Our car has brought myself and my husband home from three surgeries, so the extra leg room in the back was definitely a plus. (Not a lot of fun trying to squeeze a wrapped up post-surgery leg into a sedan)
This summer, we have spent a lot of time cruising around in our minivan. Since we moved up to Minneapolis, we been all over St Paul, Minneapolis, and of course all the lakes and parks that our state has to offer. There’s no need to spend tons of money having fun. We just load up the van and head out. When we want to chill, we just roll the back seats down for an impromptu picnic in the back.
Even though the kids are older and won’t be home with us too much longer, that Kia of mine is gonna be around for a long time. Heck, when the kids leave Mr. Crunchy and I can pull the seats out and use it to camp our way across the country or something. Yup, I guess you can say that I love that little Kia of mine and I am going to drive it until the wheels fall off. (Hopefully not while I am driving it!)
