I did receive a complimentary LG G Flex from AT&T to facilitate this review, but all opinions are my own.
“Yes, it’s supposed to be curved!” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve uttered that sentence in the last few months while testing out the LG G Flex. It’s known distinctly because it’s not flat, but has a gentle curve to the phone that mimics the technology you are seeing in the latest curved televisions.
LG G Flex is a great phone that is very versatile for someone that needs a phone with a larger work space. It’s not the size of a tablet, but it’s also not a smaller phone. It has a touch screen capability and a wide screen display that allows you to not only use your most productive applications, but even has a stylus technology that allows you to write, touch, draw, and tap.
As far as functionality and size, this is one of my favorite phones that I have tested in a while. It allows me to work on the go and use my calendar without straining my eyes. It is also great for the gym or travel because the screen is large enough and has a high enough resolution to enjoy YouTube, Netflix, or some other video streaming while you are away from home.
The downside to the phone is the camera and lack of accessories. The camera picture quality is one of the poorest I’ve seen on the market for such a higher grade phone. Unlike the Windows 1020, I wasn’t able to use this camera phone in lieu of my DSLR when taking shots for the blog. If the item was well lit and still it delivered a middle grade photograph, but anything other than those conditions made it really hard to get a worthy shot.
Since I do love taking this phone with me, I would’ve loved to have seen some great accessories with this phone. It is a larger phone, and while I love streaming Revenge while I work out if my workout station doesn’t have a platform to put the phone on I have to hold it which can be a bit annoying. It would be great if LG would make more accessories that are easy to find for the LG G Flex. It’s a phone that I plan to use in our family for a while, and accessories would just bring it to the next level.
Overall the LG G Flex is a great phone for someone that loves streaming videos, music, or gaming on the go. If you are looking for a top notch camera, this isn’t your phone, but the pros still definitely out weigh the cons for the LG G Flex. And just around the corner LG has announced the release of the LG G Flex 2. I liked this phone so much, I definitely can’t wait to see what’s next in store for the G Flex.
