Musical lovers need to rejoice! There are tons of musicals on Netflix going on right no!
It’s time I fessed something up to you guys. Deep breath in, wooooooooo saaaaaaa.
Ok, here it goes. I , Ashley Sears, am a musical nut.
I completely love musicals. I’ve been listening to them and seeing them on stage since I was a kid.
Yep, you know what this post is going to be about 8 great musicals you can stream on Netflix.
Ok, some of them are more kid friendly than “great musicals,” but you get my drift. On days when you have nothing better to do than binge stream Netflix, here are a new musicals streaming for you to check out.
The Best Musicals on Netflix? Quirky’s Top Three!
The Last Five Years: Starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan, The Last Five Years was a musical I just happened to stumble upon while surfing my Netflix selections.
It’s a little sad, but it’s really good. It follows a young couple as their relationship falls apart. It follows the things that could’ve been had they each chosen different paths. It’s not total debbie downer, but it really makes ya think!
Beauty and the Beast: The live action version of Disney’s classic Beauty and the Beast. It’s amazeballs featuring powerhouse Emma Watson as Belle.
This might be a weird selection for the best musicals on Netflix, but I’ve been in love with Beauty and the Beast ever since I was about 10 years old (stop counting how long ago that was).
YES, I still know all the words to every song in this musical. Don’t judge me. Just watch it, it’s awesome.

Disney’s Newsies The Broadway Musical: Ok, I’m letting my Disney geek show with two Disney musicals in my top three list. (What can I say, Hamilton isn’t streaming on Netflix yet!)
My first place watching Newsies is when they made the musical movie in 1992 (Yep, there I go again showing my age again!)
Though I haven’t seen this musical on Broadway, the Newsies Broadway Movie on Netflix is the next best thing!
Broadway Musicals on Netflix
Rent: This musical is set in the 1990s when AIDS was rampant, and the man was a big thing. Netflix is actually the first time I’ve ever seen Rent. It was pretty awesome.
Plus if you want to see Adele Dazeem, I mean Idina Menzel this is a great place to check her out.
Phantom Of the Opera: This is probably THE musical that made me fall in love with musicals. Ever since I was a teen, I’ve had the words memorized inside and out. This film version is almost as good as seeing it on Broadway
Mamma Mia: If you are an ABBA fan, then you are gonna love Mamma Mia. This whole musical is nothing but a collection of ABBA songs. This film is starring Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski, and Amanda Seyfried.
High School Musical 3:This one I had to throw in there for the kiddos. Yes, it’s not a musical masterpiece but it’s been a staple in our house ever since it came out. The third High School Musical about kids that are having a tough time leaving high school.
There’s a young Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens in there, so that’s always a plus!
Shrek the Musical: This is one musical streaming that your younger ones are sure to love. Think of all the time you can enjoy to yourself while they are watching Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey SING in real life!
Emo The Musical: This is one that my kids have told me I have to stream on Netflix. I haven’t watched it yet, but stay tuned. According to Netflix,
Expelled from high school for a suicide attempt, emo Ethan enters the world of Seymour High and meets a cute Christian who’s ready to convert him.
White Christmas: If you want to go OLD school musical, then you’ve got to check out White Christmas. I have a confession, I’ve actually never seen this musical, but it’s in my Netflix queue to watch right now!

I have a crazy amount of musical dorkiness in me, so this post speaks to me! I totally forgot that The Phantom of the Opera was made into a movie. I’ll have to check it out!

Nice list! Phantom of the Opera is such an underrated musical. Gerard Butler has some real singing chops.
