I did receive a complimentary stay at Hampton Inn Duluth for this post, but all tips are my own.
Life is chaotic. Life is hectic, and sometimes for the safety of our families and the value of our own sanity we need to have a girls’ weekend to get away from all of it. A few weeks ago, my best friend and I did that. We wanted to find the perfect place to stay in Duluth, Minnesota for our girls weekend, and Hampton Inn is definitely an amazing choice!
We are simple gals. Give us a small road trip, some beautiful scenery, and a bottle or two of wine and we are all set. It’s been forever since I’ve been away from the family with friends, and it was Sheryl’s first time in YEARS getting away from her family. Her husband was awesome about me snagging her for a few days because she’s always letting him disappear on guys’ adventures.
Duluth, Minnesota is about three hours from where I live in Minneapolis. I’ve always heard that it is an amazing place to visit because it sits right on Lake Superior. Plus, unlike the southern part of Minnesota, Duluth has some amazing rolling hills and cliffs that jut along the shoreline for you to see.
When I had the idea for this trip, I was working on my computer and thinking how I needed a short getaway. Sure, I’ve been traveling a lot lately but it’s all been for work, and then I come back home with a million things to do. It’s not very relaxing. This girl needed to write herself a prescription for time to do absolutely nothing other than exactly what I wanted to do. No obligations, no worries. Just me and my best friend and some wine and some time. Yep, that’s what the doctor ordered.
Once I made up my mind, I messaged Sheryl on Facebook. Within 10 minutes she said she had nothing to do during our trip time, which was perfect because she works full time and has to ask for time off. That just shows me that it was meant to be ;). With her days off secured, all we had to do was find the perfect place to stay in Duluth.
Lucky for me, Hampton Inn had invited me to review some of their hotels, and they have a gorgeous property in Duluth. It seemed the perfect place to stay for a girls’ weekend, and boy was I right.
Hampton Inn Duluth is located right in the heart of downtown Duluth, right on the shores of Lake Superior. It’s super easy to get to, and located near so many fun things to eat, see, and do. We arrived at our hotel a little bit early, and we were easily able to walk down to Grandma’s Restaurant to grab some lunch while we waited for our room to get ready. (Psst. That’s an amazing place to eat by the way. Very yummy)
Once we finished lunch, we headed back to the hotel to check into the room. The front desk was super friendly and helpful, and were even able to give us directions to several of the destinations in Duluth that we wanted to check out.
Once we got up to our room, it literally took our breath away. It was a gorgeous one bedroom suite that overlooked the gorgeous Lake Superior. Just look at the views from our hotel windows.
As if that didn’t rock enough, the suite had a full huge, jacuzzi tub in the middle of the living area. With gorgeous pillars, and a gorgeous view that was something this chica was definitely going to be testing out as well.
The room had enough space for at least four girlfriends, plus there is a TON of square footage so if you had gal pals that could camp on the floor you could fit even more in the room.
After we stopped drooling over the views and the room, we were excited to see it also featured a mini fridge and microwave in the room so if we wanted to reheat leftovers or keep our wine cold we had all we needed to do that too!
We had so much fun staying at the Hampton Inn Duluth. The rooms were super comfortable, and we would spend nights talking into the wee hours of the morning while looking over Lake Superior and the beautiful lighthouses. Luckily, we didn’t sleep too late in the morning because Hampton Inn also offers a hot continental breakfast bar every morning for guests to enjoy. We made sure to set our alarms so we could gobble up all the sausage, omlets, waffles, and fruit our bellies could hold. (Psst. They also change the breakfast daily which was great)
When we go back to Duluth for another girls’ weekend, which we both agree needs to happen, we are definitely going to be staying at the Hampton Inn Duluth again. It’s such a great location, and there is so much to do right around the hotel. Heck, even if you just want to hang in the hotel room and lap up time in the in room jacuzzi tub or down at the pool and hot tub it makes a great road trip away from home that won’t break the bank.
