50 Mother’s Day Gifts for Book Lovers
All The Light We Cannot See: I just finished this book, and fell in love! It’s about a blind girl in WWII and her trying to find her way in the world that is literally falling down around her.
It’s really well written, and tells a brilliant story about adolescence, self discovery, and overcoming adversity. I bought the audiobook of this and listened to it every night. It has great narration, and is great for the reader and audiobook lover.
Miracles from Heaven: Though I have not read the book, I have seen the movie AND interviewed the author Christy Beam (you check out the Christy Beam interview here).
This story is about so much more than Christian faith. It’s a story about hope in the darkest times, and learning to appreciate all the small miracles in your everyday life. This book hit home for me, and I will forever remember this when times are rough. Truly inspirational.
The Alchemist: The Alchemist is one of my all time favorites. It’s a great story that shows the journey of Santiago. His journey teaches us about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, of recognizing opportunity and learning to read the omens strewn along life’s path, and, most importantly, to follow our dreams.
Anytime I’m having a bad day, I head to this book! There aren’t too many hard copy books I have anymore, mainly I’m digital, but this one will forever be on my book shelf.
Now that you have a few of my favorites. Here are Mother’s Day Gifts for Book Lovers for all genres! Check it out, and make your momma happy this Mother’s Day. I mean she did put up with you through your teenage years after all!
Books for the Foodie Mom
Baking With Mary Berry: A sweet and savory collection of more than 100 foolproof recipes from the reigning “Queen of Baking” Mary Berry, who has made her way into American homes through ABC’s primetime series, The Great Holiday Baking Show, and the PBS series, The Great British Baking Show.
Make it Ahead: A Barefoot Contessa Cookbook: In Make It Ahead, each recipe includes clear instructions for what you can do ahead of time, and how far in advance, so you can cook with confidence and eliminate last-minute surprises.
Make a pitcher of Summer Rosé Sangria filled with red berries, let it chill overnight for the flavors to develop, and you have a delicious drink to offer your friends the minute they arrive.
The I Quit Sugar Cookbook by Sarah Wilson: Personally own this book, love it! When Sarah Wilson gave up sugar for good, she developed a new repertoire of creative, go-to dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
With 306 satisfying recipes for one-pan wonders, grain-free breakfasts, leftover makeovers, smoothie bowls, and more, this comprehensive cookbook makes living sugar-free simple and sustainable.
Books for the Fiction Lover
The Help by Kathryn Stockett: (Ok, I love this book too! Read it!) Miss Eugenia Phelan (“Skeeter” to her friends) is a young woman of privilege who enjoys her fellow Junior Leaguers but sometimes finds their ways at odds with her own principles.
She plays the part of her station in 1960s Mississippi but can’t help feeling dissatisfied with keeping house and acting as recording secretary at league meetings, and yearns for something more.
Brooklyn by Colm Toibin: A classical coming-of-age story, pure, unsensationalized, quietly profound… There are no antagonists in this novel, no psychodramas, no angst. There is only the sound of a young woman slowly and deliberately stepping into herself, learning to make and stand behind her choices, finding herself. –Pam Houston Review
Into the Water: Into the Water is amazeballs! I read it as one of my Book of the Month Club picks, and I couldn’t put it down! If you loved Girl on the Train, you are going to love this book too!
“Sometimes what we really need is a good thriller. And Paula Hawkins knows how to captivate readers with an enthralling and suspenseful mystery. Following her psychological thriller, The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins is at it again with Into the Water.” –Mic
Delicious by Ruth Reich: [Reichl’s] New York is a fairy-tale town where beautiful food abounds. . . .
The novel presents a whole passel of surprises: a puzzle to solve; a secret room; hidden letters; the legacy of James Beard; and a parallel, equally plucky heroine from the past, who also happens to be a culinary prodigy.—The New York Times Book Review
The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes: Jojo Moyes expertly weaves a bittersweet tale in this irresistible novel, taking careful interest in the dark corners that exist within great love stories, and the trickiness of simple happy endings. —Entertainment Weekly
