This 6 Reasons Why Netflix Rocked May 2016 post is written as a member of the Netflix Stream Team!
Netflix adds lots of great titles each and every month, and May 2016 was no exception. I spent a lot of time in front of my television screen this month and will continue to, mainly because of these 9 titles.
1. Ali Wong: Baby Cobra
This Netflix original had me cracking up because I could totally relate to Ali Wont. Baby Cobra is her story of how she tried super hard to marry the perfect man, buy the perfect house, and have a perfect pregnancy but failed miserably. By the way, she was 7-months pregnant when she filmed this stand up special so kudos to Ali!
2. Ava’s Possessions
I’m a huge fan of scary movies. In fact, if you looked at my recently watched history you might start to get a little concerned about me but nonetheless, I get sucked in with every promising cover image or titles. Ava’s Possessions is about a woman who tries to recover from a recent exorcism performed on her by joining up with others who have survived demonic posessions… but it doesn’t exactly go the way she hoped.
3. Goosebumps (2015)
I grew up reading the Goosebumps books and loved the choose-your-own-ending ones. I was so guilty of flipping to the end to see how the story would end and THEN deciding which options I wanted to choose which is totally not the way to do those books. Goosebumps is a movie that brings all of the classic characters together into one film. It has all of the nostalgia for those who read these books as youngsters and offers a fun scare for the kids who are new to the series.
4. Bring It On
This is one of those guilty pleasure movies for me that I’ve always enjoyed watching when it would run on cable. The cast is great and I appreciate the humor more and more each time I watch it. Let’s see those spirit fingers – not jazz hands! 😉
5. We Are Still Here
Another scary movie, I know. My husband and I watched this the other night and we both REALLY enjoyed it. It is one of those movies that doesn’t give you a lot of back story so you have to figure it out as you go along. If you’re thinking of moving into a new house in the future, this movie will encourage you to do a lot of research on the house and the town before purchasing.
6. Bloodline Season 2
Bloodline is one of those shows that took me an episode or two to really get into. Once it hooked me, it REALLY hooked me and I wound up blowing through the first season in a single weekend. I’m so anxious to to the same with Season 2 but will be out of town the next few weekends so it might be a while – so don’t send me any spoilers! 😉 I’m really anxious to see where they take the characters through this season because the storyline in the first season was absolutely incredible. If you’re not familiar with this show, it is about a family of adult siblings who have a lot of secrets in their pasts that all come to the surface when their estranged brother comes back into the fold.
