This Alice Through the Looking Glass Movie Review was an all expense paid trip to LA, but all humor and fan girl action are my own
If you are looking for a Alice Through the Looking Glass movie review you’ve come to the right place! The movie opens today May 27th in theaters worldwide, so make sure to get your Alice Through the Looking Glass tickets it’s worth every penny!
When I was in Los Angeles for the Alice Through the Looking Glass premiere, we were actually able to screen the movie twice. It’s rare that I can say that I enjoy watching a movie twice in such a short time span, but Alice Through the Looking Glass was such a treat. It’s not your “typical” Alice in Wonderland movie. It has more adventure, a brilliant obstacle in Time, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, and of course the genius of Johnny Depp.
In the second installment of the Alice series, Alice finds herself captain of her own ship for three years. She comes back home, and she’s much different from the Alice in the first film. She’s strong, she’s self assured, and she’s ready to be who she was meant to be.
Shortly after returning home, she finds out that Mad Hatter is in desperate need of her help. After finding a sign that his family might still be alive, he’s becoming ill and cynical when no one seems to believe him. Alice rushes to the Hatter’s side to find out how she can learn the fate of Hatter’s family, and hopefully save Hatter.
To do so, she has to steal the chronosphere from Time himself. See Time is a person, not just a calculation of ticks on a clock. The fun really begins when Alice sneaks in to get the chronosphere. You follow Alice along on her adventures, while wondering will she find Hatter’s answer before destroying time all together.
I absolutely loved Alice Through the Looking Glass. This Alice Through the Looking Glass movie review is going to keep it real and tell you that it’s much different from the Alice cartoons we all grew up with as kids, and that’s what I love about this movie. Alice is a strong female lead, and the story line is really entertaining for all ages.
As with the previous Alice film, the costumes and scenery are absolutely amazing. What always blows my mind is the fact these very talented actors are acting to huge CGI green screens. It must take such imagination to be able to act when in reality there’s nothing there before the movie magic.
The other part that I loved is the dynamic relationships in the film. Alice has an amazing friendship with Mad Hatter, and there is a fun playful relationship between her and Time. Sacha Baron Cohen does a great job playing the confident idiot, and Alice is a great match because she’s not afraid to let him know that she’s going to get what she wants regardless of what he thinks.
Alice Through the Looking Glass is a great film for all ages. It’s something that I enjoyed, and I’m even planning on seeing it a third time when I take my teenagers to see it in the theaters this weekend.
