You hear that every mom is a super hero, but get this, I really AM a super hero. Here’s the thing. There’s a few things that every super hero needs, and this momma has them all. Not just Captain America can be a super hero (even though he is quite the eye candy example below)
The first thing a super hero needs is an outfit. I will save you the spandex, but I totally have the outfit. There’s no stopping me with my Captain America hoodie (hey, don’t judge)
The next thing you need is a disguise. No one needs to know your identity, unless you are Iron Man, when you are saving the world one catastrophe at a time.
Lastly, you need a weapon. Well, looky here. I totally have a bad ass shield. Captain America aka Chris Evans let me borrow it for a spin. It’s quite becoming don’t you think?
How did I get to be a super hero? (Other than just being awesome?) Well, I had a chance to head to the Captain America set. Those juicy details are still super hero top secret, but I can share with you it was amazing. We got to meet a certain super hero cutie, and spent a few hours talking to the prop master about just how many shields they use in the filming of Captain America 2!
What we learned about the props was amazing. Did you know that there are usually 50+ shields when filming Captain America? Russell Bobbit, master propmaster shared :
“And so in this movie we — we have a couple surprises with the shield. And it’ll appear that there are different shields. But it’s only one shield. For that one shield I have to make 50 of them to accommodate all the different filming scenarios– I have hard rubber, soft rubber, fiberglass, metal… depending on if there’s an insert on it, I use a metal one ‘cause it looks the best.
There’s a LOT of work that goes into making films like this, and it was awesome to learn the passion the filmmakers have for what they do. I could’ve listened to Russell talk for hours!
Just wait until my next post! I get to share with you what it was like to meet Captain America himself AND sit on set for the upcoming Captain America 2 film!
