This post was written on behalf of Brooklyn Creamery, but all easy chocolate mousse recipe awesomeness is my own
When I was a kid, my mom used to make the most amazing chocolate mousse. She would put them in these cute little dishes, and I thought it was the fanciest thing in the world. Easy chocolate mousse tastes so decadent like you spent hours in the kitchen, but little did I know back then how easy it can be to make. It wasn’t something that my mom made often, so it was a really delicious treat and probably explains my obsession with things like chocolate mousse cheesecake. Thanks, Mom!
Now it’s my turn to recreate this classic chocolate mousse that I loved so much as a kid. Not sure how my mom made it, but with my recipes I wanted it to be a simple to make as possible. The best way to make easy chocolate mousse is to use quality ingredients. When you are making a recipe, quality ingredients go a long way. They add different levels of flavor without a lot of fancy tips and tricks. I’m still learning my way around the kitchen, so I don’t want to make anything that’s super complicated. Super easy recipes are the way to go!
The secret weapon in this easy chocolate mousse recipe is a new cream from Brooklyn Creamery. This great spoonable cream works amazingly in this recipe. It’s an all new, all natural fresh dairy cream similar to British Style ‘’Double Cream.” It’s different than regular heavy cream because it’s spoonable and looks almost like sour cream but without the tangy flavor.. Brooklyn Creamery’s Double and Single creams are Gluten Free, Kosher, rBST free and have no artificial ingredients, no add salts/sugars and has no carbs! That makes this gluten free mama happy. It’s so hard finding good gluten free products.
This cream was super easy to use, and it tastes great. For my recipe, I used one container of single cream and one container of double cream, but if you want your chocolate mousse super thick and creamy I would probably use 2 double creams. Some people say chocolate mousse is supposed to be light and airy, but personally I like mine more rich and decadent. Are you ready to get started? Here’s what you need for this easy chocolate mousse recipe!
Ingredients:
- 2 Containers Brooklyn Creamery Double Cream (Get a great Brooklyn Creamery coupon here!)
- 1/4 C Sugar
- 10 oz 70% Good Dark Chocolate (or if you want Semi-Sweet Chocolate)
- 1 tsp Rodelle Vanilla
- 2 Tbsp Water
- Optional 2 Drops Orange Essential Oil (if you want orange chocolate mousse)
Directions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whip the cream with the sugar until blended and slightly larger in size
- In a large metal bowl, mix the chocolate, vanilla, water, and if you want orange essential oil.
- On medium heat. Place metal bowl in a large pot of boiling water and allow the chocolate to melt, stirring constantly
- Once the chocolate is melted, allow to cool to room temperature (but not to resolidify)
- When it’s cooled, fold it into the cream mixture.
- Place in fun glasses. I love serving it in martini glasses.
- You should have enough for four servings.
