Halloween Crafts: Candy Corn Crochet Hat

It’s almost that time of year. When the leaves start to change colors, and the air gets a little bit cooler. Of course that means it’s time for a ton of Halloween crafts! This year my youngest daughter told me that she wanted me to crochet a candy corn crochet hat. At first, I thought she was crazy, but once I finished it I would have to say that it actually is really cute! It cost me less than $2.50 to make this hat, and it’s sure to keep her head really warm all fall long.

This pattern is really simple, and even a beginner can do it. The only stitches that I used were the single crochet and slip stitch.

Supplies

Orange, Yellow, and White Peaches ‘n Cream Yarn

Size 5 crochet hook (or size hook needed to make proper fit)

Instructions.

Staring with the white yarn, chain four. In the first loop on the chain, single crochet four into it to make a circle. Slip stitch to complete circle.

Each round you are going to increase by two. That means in two stitches per round you are going to have 2 single crochets.

Make sure to change where in the loop you add the extra two stitches, this will keep the hat relatively uniform and not lopsided. At the end of each round slip stitch to end round, and then start next round.

Crochet approximately 15-20 rows of white. Then join the orange.

Continue with the orange for approximately 20-25 rows. Continue to increase by two for each row as well. Once you are done, join yellow.

With the yellow we are going to start and decrease to fit the head. You decrease by going through a stitch, pull yarn through, then go through another stitch and complete the single crochet. Decrease by 3-4 each round, more or less as needed to fit. Do this for about 5-7 rows.

After you are done decreasing, single crochet one stitch in each stitch for 5-10 rows. Once you are done, slip stitch to end the hat, and sew in all your ends.
