Our family is trying to make some changes in our lives, and we realize that even small changes make a big difference. This York Peppermint patty milkshake is one of our favorite treats, and though you may not consider it healthy we try to use the best ingredients in it to make little steps towards putting less chemicals in our bodies.
Ever since I had my girls, I’ve really been concerned about the antibiotics and hormones that some milk producers put in their dairy products. That’s why when we buy milk, or other dairy products, we look to make sure they aren’t using artificial growth hormones with their cows.
We aren’t going to go totally organic, vegan, crunchy overnight, but we know that even making small changes, like using milk without artificial hormones, is a big step. So, we’ve been slowly but surely redoing some of our favorite recipes using hormone free products.
DairyPure milk helps us do that. They have a 5 point purity promise that makes me feel better about buying their product:
- The don’t use artificial growth hormones (Disclaimer: No significant difference has been shown between milk derived from cows treated with artificial growth hormone rbST and non-rbST-treated cows)
- All milk is tested for antibotics
- Continuously quality tested to ensure purity
- Only from cows fed a healthy diet
- Cold shipped fresh from your local dairy
Now that you know the awesomeness of DairyPure, onto the recipe. Don’t think it “doesn’t make a difference” because Yorks aren’t healthy. Every little change can make a difference.
Directions:
- In a blender, put all the ingredients
- Put on blend/milkshake setting until well blended
- Serve and top with whipped cream.

Sadly I don’t think these are Nutri System approved, but they do taste fabulous if you get a cheat day 🙂

Who cares if Nutri- System, Weight Watchers, South Beach or [insert other weight loss management group, points,or book] approves . My mom used to tell me the secret to cutting back [ we don’t say dieting , because that’s die with a T on the end – my name just happens to start with a T 🙂 ] was : when you are craving a particular food, sit down – eat it until you don’t want anymore. But don’t eat just to be eating . Restart cutting back tomorrow – and you won’t want the chocolate, or chips again for a while. Feed your cravings, and then stop.
Crunchy Frugalista says
I agree with ya! That’s how my nutrionist tells me to eat. She says it’s worse to avoid foods or label them as “bad” if you live in moderation your body will eventually find it’s even level of weight 🙂
