This post is on behalf of Best Buy, but geek fan girling is my own.
One of the things that makes home feel like home is that you can make it your own. You know we’re all about that here on Quirky Inspired. Find the things you love and make it your own. Then rock that! Well, that means you need to find ways to express your creativity in your home too!
Mood lighting doesn’t have to be something that is just for romantic movies. How you color your home, can really make a huge difference on the environment that you are in! Recently, I had a chance to try the Phillips Hue Lighting system in my home, and I have to tell you I am in love!! It’s such a fun way to set the mood in my home!
Recently, the hubster and I have been working more and more on getting rid of all the clutter in our home (Read a great decluttering post here!) and making the things we do keep in our house mean a whole lot to us.
Honestly, I am not sure how I lived before putting the Hue lighting set in my house! It’s has a fun geeky aspect to it, so I can use my iPad or iPhone to set the mood to what I am feeling like or if I am away from the house my husband can use his Android based phone to change the lights while I am gone. (We may or may not have had a fun time having “lighting wars” with each other and changing the lights from the other parts of the house.)
One of the things that I am really trying to work on in my life is to unplug a little bit more and embrace the stillness of not over scheduling myself. That means taking more time to meditate and to read inspiring books, or to just simply be still. I know, I know you guys think that’s not possible, but I tell you it is if you make it a priority.
The Hue lights that we put in our living room are awesome. They totally help us wind down at the end of the day when we need a little bit more of a relaxing setting, or they keep us focused when we want to be up and about. Plus, they are easy to install because you can just screw them into the light bulb sockets you already have. Do that, install your bridge, which is crazy easy, and download the app and your lights are ready to go!
Over the summer hubby made me buy myself a hanging chair I have been looking at for the last two years. It’s a little pricey so I’ve always found a reason not to buy the dang thing. This year I got it, and the love of my life made me an indoor stand for it to hang from. Now with my Hue on the Go light in it, I can set the mood in my little corner of the world. It’s amazing. I put on my head phones open up a great book, put my essential oils on, and then turn on my Hue Go light to calm me down for the night. The best part is I can contr0l my Hue Go light seperately from the Hue lights that are in our main living room. On top of that the light is wire free so you can literally take it anywhere! It’s also great in the bathroom for some mood lit bubble baths, gals. (Just sayin’)
You guys know I’m a little geektastic, so it’s great to be able to have a connected home that adds to my goals of living a more creative, mindful life. The Hue lights are amazing, but without a great router it wouldn’t be possible. We have a wireless router, but between all the Netflix streaming and game playing we’ve already noticed that it lags a little bit.
It’s not our Internet speed because that is about the highest you can get nowadays. Best Buy hooked us up with the Netgear® Nighthawk™ DST Router and DST Adapter which has Geek Squad included! We hooked this up when we were setting up our Hue lights, and immediately noticed a difference in the Internet speeds in the house. My husband’s favorite feature was the booster that you could plug into any outlet in the house to make sure that you could get coverage anywhere! Now we have no more lagging in our home.
If you haven’t checked out the Hue Lighting Starter Kit, then you need to get your bootie over to Best Buy because they are awesome and totally worth it. We are already looking at adding more lights to our house in our bedroom and our bathroom we love the lights so much.
