MARVEL’S The Avengers: Age of Ultron is right around the corner and I don’t know about you guys this girl is geeking out! It’s awesome when you get the Marvel movies with just one character, hello Iron Man 3, but it’s even better when you get all of them in one movie! Whether it makes me nostalgic about my trip to Iron Man 3 premiere and meeting Captain America, or it’s just my not so inner geek coming out I love making up fun Avengers cupcake recipes to celebrate the new Avengers movie coming out! Make sure to check it out at the end of the post!
To get ready for our Hulk Smash Cupcakes, I grabbed the Avengers (ok, the kiddos) downloaded the Super Heroes app and headed out to Wal-Mart to grab some super hero swag and treats!
Every time Avengers come out with a new movie Wal-Mart knows how to get down with it! This time around they have this cool Super Heroes Avengers Unite app that I downloaded on my Android phone so while I was shopping for Avengers gear I could scan photos and unlock cool parts of the app.
It’s super easy to have fun with this app! Just download Super Heroes Assemble on Android here or Super Heroes Assemble on iOS here. Once you have your app downloaded head to the store, and accept the super top secret mission to scan Avengers swag, food, and signage to get some really cool sections of the apps. I did it when I was at the store, and look I am Iron Man (woman?)
Once you have your Super Heroes Assemble app downloaded, you can scan products, signs, and posters to unlock cool new features! Start at the home screen, and then click the Discover icon at the top to unlock all the Avengers characters.
There it will tell you what to scan in order to unlock your favorite Avengers characters. Of course the first one I wanted to unlock was Iron Man!
It was really easy to scan the images I needed to unlock the different sections of the app. The only time it got tricky was when part of a sign was covered by a small hanging display. Yep, you know me I briefly held it away from the sign in one hand and scanned with my other hand and it took the picture! It’s really that easy you can do it one handed. When you are looking for the things to scan make sure to check out the Toys, Electronics, and of course the food aisles for signage. That’s where I found the signs that unlocked things in my app like that cool photo op to be Iron Man (that’s under Photo op by the way).
Once you are done scanning, you can check out all the cool features and bios on your favorite Avengers characters. I could stare at Thor all day long in his bio!
Now that you know how to work the app, it’s time to make some Hulk Smash cupcakes! My kids love embracing their inner Hulk (ok not so inner some days)! These cupcakes are fun to make, get the kids involved and are a cool way to celebrate MARVEL’S The Avengers: Age of Ultron coming to the screen!
Why are they called Hulk Smash Cupcakes? It’s because they let you have a little fun by smashing things. These cupcakes are green with black frosting to celebrate Hulk! To make it even more fun, we take our favorite toppings put them in a plastic baggie and smash them to bits! My kids love using chocolate sandwich cookies, but we’ve also used chocolate candies too. That takes the handy work of a meat tenderizer to get them to break apart, but the kids still get to have a lot of fun!
Ingredients:
- One box white cake mix
- 5-10 drops green food coloring
- Wilton Black Frosting in a Bag
- Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
- Plastic Sandwich bags
- Your Hulk Fists
Directions:
- Prepare the white cake mix per the box instructions
- Add the Green Food Coloring
- Bake per the instructions
- Allow to cool, and then ice with Wilton’s Black Pre Made Frosting
- While they are cooking, put the tops of chocolate sandwich cookies inside a plastic baggie and smash up. My kids love to use their hands, but the flat size of the meet tenderizer will help too!
