I did receive an all expenses paid trip to San Francisco for the Inside Out/ Good Dinosaur Event, but all fan girling are my own
While in San Francisco for The Good Dinosaur Event, we had a chance to be there for the Inside Out DVD release launch press junket too! (Pssstttt. If you haven’t seen Inside Out you are FAILING as a human being. Check out my review of Inside Out here) We also had a chance to interview voice actors, producers, and directors from Inside Out! It was a really fun way to get behind the scenes of Inside Out!
One of our first interviews was with Inside Out Director Pete Docter and Producer Jonas Riveras. It was a really fun experience hearing from them what it took to get inside the head of an eleven year old girl!
Of course, the first thing that we wanted to know was if there was going to be a sequel to Inside Out. It’s been such an awesome movie that we were biting at the bit to figure out if they were already in the works for another movie!
As much as I would love to gush that they confirmed a sequel is in the work, they let us know that while they LOVED making Inside Out that one of Pixar’s passions is coming up with something new. What that means is it’s their curiosity and exploration of new ideas that is what makes Pixar amazing.
For right now, there aren’t any plans for an Inside Out sequel, BUT they definitely let us know that they love to keep things open ended so it’s not an impossibility. (We have your back and let them know we demand a sequel and soon!)
We also wanted to know what was next for Pixar, but they are all hush hush about that. All they would confirm is that they are in the very early stages of developing a new film. Not sure if you know this but the average Pixar full length movie takes about 4-5 years for them to develop from first ideas to the final finished movie. They do a great job to make sure they are always working on something, but it takes a LOT of work to make awesome movies like Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur!
To have a little bit more fun with them, we wanted to know which Inside Out character each of them related to. Jonas Riveras shared,
I would say Joy. For me we’re generally pretty positive people and Pixar’s such a great place. Every now and then I pinch myself like we have the greatest jobs in the world. I never dreamed I’d be doing this and talking about movies that we get to make and also with joy, what I love about Joy and this is personal, Joy is someone that is always positive but she’s always looking backwards a little bit. She’s very much into her memories and I guess she’s a nostalgist and I’m a little bit that way, too. And so I really-she’s my favorite.
Pete Docter also found that he related to joy but confesses he once in a while relates to Anger. I think we all can relate to that a little bit!
It was really fun to sit in the room with the creators of Pixar’s smash hit Inside Out. We had a chance to meet them for a second when we watched the new Pixar short Riley’s First Date which is featured on the DVD, but it was really interesting to chat with them about why they loved working on Inside Out and what makes being a part of the Pixar family so special.
Disney-Pixar’s INSIDE OUT will be available on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere October 13 and on DVD, Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray Combo Pack and On Demand on November 3.
