Plan a Last Minute Weekend Getaway in Two Easy Steps!
This post is based on experience paid for by Trip.com
A few weekends ago the hubster and I needed a last minute weekend getaway. It had been a really long time since we’ve gone away together, and we really just wanted to find some fun things to do in Minneapolis so we weren’t so far away from home.
One of the down falls of planning a last minute weekend getaway is all the time it can take to find out what hotels still have vacancies, and then you have to spend time to see if there is anything to do near where you are staying. After it’s all said and done it’s not quite as exciting because you are stressed out about finding places that aren’t full!
Hubby and I decided to forget that noise and planned our last minute weekend getaway in two easy steps. It seriously took us less than ten minutes to find a place to stay in Minneapolis, a place to eat in downtown Minneapolis, and a place to play near where we were staying. Yup, ten minutes, no joke!
What’s the super secret? Step number one is to download the Trip.com app. Trip.com is this great app that helps you find tons of information and reviews from other travelers all in the palm of your hand. Not only can you find things to do, eat, and see, you can also check out reviews and pick “tribes” based on your Interests. There are 19 tribes on Trip.com including Foodie, Wellness, Adventure, Trendsters, Nightlife and more!
Downtown Minneapolis is only about an hour from where we live, so we knew that we wanted to stay downtown. We decided to pick the foodie and wellness tribes because we are total foodies and we also wanted to find something relaxing to do because we both could use a little zen in our lives.
After you download the Trip.com app, the second step is to pick your tribes and then search through the app until you find things that tickle your fancy! Have no clue what to do? Trip.com is there to help. It’s the first travel app to use artificial intelligence to predict what you want to do even before you know it. They use your tribes, plus things like your location, time of day, and even weather to help you find some awesome things to do! That’s what makes Trip.com different from all those other travel apps and websites. Because of this, it seriously took us less than 10-15 minutes and we even discovered things to do in Minneapolis that we didn’t even know they were there, and we’ve been living here for FOUR years!
Thanks to using the app, we found a great place to stay in Minneapolis, Le Meriden Chambers. It’s right in the middle of Minneapolis’s theater district. The hotel itself was fabulous, and had a fun art vibe to it. Pieces of art are featured throughout the whole hotel, plus your room key gets you free admission into the Walker Art Museum! (Another place we have yet to visit)
Before we checked into our hotel, we spent a luxurious hour at The Salt Cave Minneapolis. This was the little gem that we had no idea that was there. The Salt Cave is this magnificent place where you get to relax in a room built entirely out of himalayan salt blocks! The treatments last about 45 minutes, and you can even schedule a chair massage while you are enjoying the benefits of the room. Hubby and I both took advantage of that, and let’s just say it was the PERFECT way to kick off our last minute weekend getaway. If you are looking for something to do in Minneapolis, you totally need to check out The Salt Cave Minneapolis!
Another fun thing about the Trip.com app is that you can create postcards from your adventures. Check out my postcard from The Salt Cave Minneapolis.
To feed our foodie hearts, we headed to Fogo de Chao in downtown Minneapolis. For those of you that don’t know what Fogo de Chao is, you have seriously been missing out. It’s actually a chain Brazilian steakhouse. It’s seriously a meat lovers delight. Anything and everything you can think of is served right at your table; filet mignon, strip steak, shrimp, lamb, pork, I mean seriously everything. Hubby and I had a delicious time, and we left stuffed to the gils. Dinner starts out at about $50/person but you can eat as much as you like of quality cuts of meat. It’s totally worth every penny.
Whether you are looking for things to do in Minneapolis or looking to plan a last minute weekend getaway, Trip.com is an awesome app to help you do that! It’s easy to use, easy to post your own reviews, and easy to become the ruler of your town. The traveler with the most kick butt reviews win!
We’ve already made a list of places for our next trip (hopefully to Las Vegas), we’re checking out reviews and making a list of our favorite places that we want to go see when we eventually make it to Las Vegas! It’s a fun way to keep your dreams of traveling alive all in one fun place! If you haven’t checked it out yet, go, now, get Trip.com and plan your next staycation or your next last minute weekend getaway. You can thank me later!

That sounds super fun, especially the fact that Trip.com gives you ideas of what to do wherever your going. Sometimes that’s the hardest part for the Mrs. and me when we try to get away.
Thanks for the advice!
