The New Year is here, and it’s always great to try and learn new things. This year I decided I wanted to learn how to knit. In the past years, there was a girl I knew that taught me the basic knit stitch, but I didn’t have any clue about the ideas behind knitting because it was so different from crochet.
Life is too crazy to haul my butt over to Michaels or JoAnn’s to take a knitting class. That’s why I have signed up for the online knitting class Knit Lab on Craftsy. It’s really cool because I can take the class at whatever pace I want, plus there are great videos to walk me through the important steps. There’s even an interactive chat bar to the right of the videos, so if you have a question about something in the video you can ask the teacher and they actually get back to you.
I’ve tried to use YouTube videos to learn how to knit, but it was always so frustrating because if I was confused there was no where to ask the questions. (That’s probably why I gave up on learning to knit the first time). If you are ready to learn a little bit about knit stitches, casting on, pearling and making some really cute knit wears join me and sign up for the Knit Lab. Every Friday, I am going to share my progress in the class, and hope you will share how your projects turned out too.
So sign up for these great learn to knit videos on Craftsy, and then grab your supplies. (There aren’t too many you have to grab. The class has a great list of the supplies you need for each project) Next Friday, I will check back in and share our projects, and we can see what questions we have and hopefully help each other out while we learn how to do this together! Plus, I am dabbling with the idea of doing knitting G+ hangouts with a side of wine. (What’s more fun than crafting and drinking?!) You never know you might find you like it, because knitting isn’t just an old lady sport anymore!

I may join you in the quest to learn knitting. My friend knits the most beautiful hats and scarves for her kids and sells them on etsy, too. People say it’s relaxing too!

Jean, You should join. These classes are all online with great videos, and you have access to leave questions for the teacher. Plus, we will be chatting about the lessons here on Crunchy Frugalista and sharing photos of our projects. It’s like double the support 🙂
