This post is written on behalf of the Netflix Stream team but all opinions are my own.
It was just a typical Friday night, and I was cruising around on Netflix looking for something to watch. Then a show popped up that said I should watch it, and you know when Netflix says you must watch something, YOU. MUST. WATCH. The show’s called Longmire, and even though it didn’t look like a typical show I would enjoy I figured I would give it a whirl.
Now I have to tell you that I am a series killer. What’s that you ask? It’s when you binge watch the entire set of seasons over the course of the weekend. Longmire didn’t look like a good candidate for a series binging, but I was so wrong! I JUST. CAN’T. STOP. WATCHING! It’s probably one of my favorite series that I have watched on Netflix. (Ok, every new series that I find is my all time favorite, but it’s like choosing a favorite child)
If you haven’t watched Longmire on Netflix yet, YOU SHOULD! Even if you don’t think you might like it, give it a whirl. When you’ve watched as much Netflix as I have you end up trying new series because you are afraid you just might run out of things to watch! (Like that was ever possible on Netflix)
To convince you even more. Here’s my top 7 reasons why I love Longmire on Netflix (and You should too!)
7 Reasons I Love Longmire on Netflix (and you should too)
Crime: This gal is a sucker for a crime drama, so if you are a CSI fanatic or a crime drama fanatic, then you are going to love it too!
Cowboys: There’s lots and lots of cowboys in Longmire. It’s set in Montana so it’s not too shabby checking out the Cowboys!
Lou Diamond Phillips: Lou Diamond Phillips does an amazing job playing Henry, Longmire’s best friend. His character alone is a reason to watch.
Native American Story Lines: This isn’t the same old, same old cowboys and Indians kind of story. It’s about two cultures that are forced to live together and you get to see the beauty of the Native American culture through dancing, stories, and Native American pageants.
Scenery: The setting for the show is absolutely gorgeous. It is filmed in New Mexico, so you get to check out some amazing tall bluffs and rugged terrain.
Heart: Though Longmire is a man of few words, he’s a character that has a whole lot of heart. He’s a simple man, yet complicated at the same time. He wants justice to be served, but often finds that sometimes pursuing justice means breaking the law.
Bad Guys: There are always those characters that you love to hate, and Longmire definitely has many of them. Sometimes Longmire has to work with the bad guys to get justice served, but he never forgets that they are the enemy and to keep them close.

Man, Janet! You sure know your stuff about Longmire! I have to agree the score is pretty awesome too!
Debbie says
Durant, WY is the fictional town for Longmire
we vacationed in New Mexico this summer so we could visit all the places Longmire is filmed
I would love to go to Buffalo, WY and had a slice of pie at the Busy Bee
every summer so far there has been Longmire Days in Buffalo
for those days the town is renamed Durant

Debbie, That sounds like a super fun trip! I hear Wyoming is really beautiful too!
Roxanne Weiss says
You are so right! Longmire is the BEST! We have the cowboys in their Wranglers. Then they throw in the tough, mouthy girl from Philly for contrast. The contrast of the whites versus the Indians and of course good versus bad.
All of the discussion that goes on about the show has me watching multiple times to pick it apart and try to piece it together. The writers do such a fabulous job with carrying the tiniest details through the episodes. The steps to Walt’s cabin being a great example. I can’t think of any other show that has that level of attention to detail!
If you are not watching Longmire, you are truly missing out on what is the best show to ever hit tv! Long Live Longmire!
Ashley Sears says
Roxanne, I could agree more! It’s such a great show, and I never knew that so many people are such big fans, but now I understand why!
Jeanne Weinberger says
Takes place in Wyoming, not Montana

You are right! Thanks for catching that!
