Make Yourself a Priority and It Could Change Your Life (Even When You Don’t Have Time)
You guys know it’s so important to make yourself a priority. That’s why I’m so excited to have a super special announcement to make! This year, I’m teaming up with Hilton Garden Inn as a member of the the Bright On team! It’s a great partnership that’s going to teach you how to live an awesome life this summer! We’ll being sharing with you some Bright Ideas that help save you time and make your life rock!
When I was approached by Hilton Garden Inn, I was really excited because they understand the importance of taking care of yourself. They realize that so many women have so much on their plate, and they want to make sure that the next time you travel all of your needs are met. When I hopped on the phone with them, I realized they get what is important to the members of the Quirky Inspired community, and that teaming up together was a great match.
Sure, it may seem dorky to get excited about this partnership, but you guys have no idea how rare it is to meet a brand that really gets what it’s like to be a business woman. They totally get that ever elusive work life balance that lot of us are always hunting for! It’s like our unicorn, always searching for that mythical creature called work life balance.
Every year we are told to do more and work more and we wonder why we can never find the balance we are looking for. Those things are all kind of mutually exclusive. We need to slow down, treat ourselves, eat well, stay fit, work smart and sleep well. Those are keys to having a happy life, and they just happen to be the pillar of the Bright On lifetsyle that Hilton Garden Inn wants the Bright On team members to help you gain.
Just as a fun kick off, I wanted to give you two pieces of advice. My area of expertise is to treat yourself and how to make yourself a priority. It’s always important no matter how busy you are, or how much you don’t think you have time, or (insert any excuse in here), that you take the time to treat yourself. When you don’t make yourself a priority, you end up cranky and burnt out and not able to be your optimal self. Where is the fun in that?? Make sure to jot these bright ideas down next time you try and make excuses why you can’t treat yourself.
Bright Ideas to Make Yourself a Priority
Bright Idea #1: Start each morning with a treat: Even if you aren’t a morning person, find one thing you look forward to every morning and MAKE TIME FOR IT. It can be something as simple as a flavored cup of coffee or fifteen minutes listening to your favorite podcast. Starting your morning with a little special something is sure to get your day started off on the right foot.
Bright Idea #2: Do less: There’s has to be something in your day that’s absolutely not crucial for you to keep in your schedule. We are always multi-tasking, overscheduling, and wearing ourselves out. It’s no wonder so many of us feel like we never have time to treat ourselves. Go through your schedule and pick ONE thing that you truly could stop doing. If the world would not end if you gave up this task, it has to go! Trust me you will be more thankful for the freed up time!
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says

I would treat myself by not compromising on self care! I sometimes get in such a hurry I don’t take time to slather on some body lotion after a shower or exfoliate during a shower. Those things really don’t take much time, and there is no excuse for not doing them! Shared on instagram as @runnergurlms

I treat myself by learning to say NO sometimes. I volunteer a lot and am usually the first person to step up for something. I can’t do it all on my own, though. I have learned to step aside from some things and it has given me relief. I don’t need to do it all in order to feel empowered or respected.

It can be hard to get into that mindset, to put yourself first. It’s something all adults need. I need my once in a blue moon just me out night to wander Target or the mall by myself.

I would treat myself by traveling to the beach, pulling out a chair and listening to the waves crashing the shoreline.
