Disclosure time: I am about to receive an epic all expenses paid trip on behalf of Disney and ABC, but all hilarity, fan girl drooling, and cross country short modeling are my own. We have a friend here in bloggyland that we like to call the magical inbox fairy. This fairy promises to make dreams come true by flying lucky bloggers like myself to the land of sun and stars to schmooz with some of Hollywood’s greatest. A few weeks back, the magical inbox fairy hit again, and told me for the third luxurious time I am going to Los Angeles! (The fairy must be a mind reader because a break from Minnesota winter is much wanted at this point!) On February 5th to the 8th, I am headed to LA with 24 other amazing Disney bloggers to attend the McFarland USA press junket!
We are going to have an amazing time. During our trip, we are getting to screen the latest Disney movie McFarland USA, plus get a sneak peak into some new in home Disney movie releases! We are even going to have a chance to interview THE Kevin Costner! As a child of the 90s, and some 80s, Kevin Costner is in pretty much every movie that I grew up loving. (Bodyguard anyone?)
Needless to say, I am really excited to interview him, and I am also stoked to see McFarland USA. It’s a great based on a true story film about a cross country team. Don’t judge me how I look now, but this girl used to be a long distance runner. Since I am all broken now, I will have to live vicariously through the triumphant story of this budding team coming together and kicking butt. Check out the trailer. It gives me goosebumps! (Psst McFarland USA opens 2/20!)
It’s not all spelled out for us yet, but we will be interviewing additional cast members and the real life inspiration for the film! My last Disney trip was to Million Dollar Arm, also a based on a true story film, and let me tell you it is totally humbling to meet the inspiration for these films. You will want to check out the Million Dollar Arm interviews here, it was life changing as I am sure this trip will be too!
As if that wasn’t good enough, we are going to have an exclusive trip to the Walt Disney Animation Studios for the in-home release of Big Hero 6! I haven’t had a chance to watch that movie yet, so I’m really excited to get a chance to interview Ryan Potter (voice of “Hiro”), Daniel Henney (voice of “Tadashi”) and Scott Adsit (voice of “Baymax”)! My eldest daughter wants to be a voice actress so she is a wee bit envious that I am getting to meet these great actors! (Grab this bad boy on DVD on 2/24!)
We’ll also have a chance to learn more about the latest Tinkerbell movie. Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast! We’re headed to DisneyToon Studios to talk to the filmmakers and Ginnifer Goodwin, aka Snow White from Once Upon a Time. It was this interview that both my daughters told me they were “done with me.” They are both QUITE the OUAT fans. Hope they can forgive me for being really excited about this chat! (This comes out on DVD 3/3!)
If all that isn’t exciting enough, we are also checking out a brand new show from ABC! Fresh off the Boat! This show hasn’t even aired yet and we are getting a chance to check out the first two episodes plus meet Executive producer Nahnatchka Kahn as well as some of the cast for the show! (You can check it out February 4th 8:30 and 9:31 p.m., plus premieres at February 10th at 8:00 p.m., ET!)
To round out the fun, we’ll be screening the Disney Channel film Bad Hair Day plus having a Q+A star and Executive Producer Leigh-Allyn Baker. My family are HUGE Good Luck Charlie fans, yeah this was probably the nail in my coffin as far as my kids are concerned. In all fairness though, I did take them to meet Brigit Mendler a few years back. They should share when it comes to meeting cool Disney Channel stars! This goodie premieres Feb 13, at 8 PM ET!
To say that I am a wee bit excited about this trip, is an understatement. If you haven’t followed along with me on my other Disney trips, you can check out my Iron Man 3 trip and my Million Dollar Arm trip here to see what kind of goodies you can expect. PLUS, make sure you follow along on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook using these hashtags #McFarlandUSAevent, #freshofftheboat, #badhairday, #bigherosixbloggers, #neverbeastbloggers and #abctvevent. That’s a whole lot of hasthags, but these trips are a whole lot of fun. You get exclusive access as the event is happening (that’s how much I love you guys!) So if you want to get the details first, follow along, tweet, like, comment, and love!
