Disclosure: I received an all expenses paid trip to the Million Dollar Arm premiere courtesy of Disney, but all humor, wit, and kick butt pitching skills are my own.
It doesn’t matter whether or not you are a “sports person.” What matters is that you love movies that show the human spirit! If that’s you, then Million Dollar Arm is where you must be this weekend when it sneaks into over 500 theaters across the country. Just warning you, you ARE going to need some tissues.
Last week, myself and 24 other bloggers head to Los Angeles for the world premiere of Million Dollar Arm. We meandered our way down the red green carpet, and got to rub elbows with some of Major League Baseball’s and Hollywood’s finest.
This was my second red carpet experience in Los Angeles, and it was just as amazing as the Iron Man 3 premiere I attended last year. The best part of this carpet was that it was MUCH less intense. We had a chance to enjoy our time down the carpet, take pictures with friends, and even take our first red carpet selfie.
Before the Million Dollar Arm premier, Disney held a Million Dollar Arm pitching contest just like the one the film is about. 9 finalists from all around the country had their chance at $1 million for a 100 mph fast ball. Though no one did hit 100, the winner did have a 94 mph fast ball. It was great to hear each finalist’s families cheer them on from the bleachers, and to see the passion for a dream they were hoping was about to come true. You could cut the anticipation in the crowd with a knife, and it was a blessing to be there when JB Bernstein offered the winner a contract with 7 Figures Management. Talk about a dream come true!
Want to know what it was like on the carpet? Then imagine this. 25 Disney bloggers were strutting down the carpet (looking fabulous if I say so myself), and then all of a sudden the REAL JB Bernstein yells “My Mommy Bloggers!!!” He came over to us, and then whipped out his cell phone to take a selfie with us. It was really an awe inspiring moment, because this was the man that developed the Million Dollar Arm program. It was his inspiration to go to India to find the next big American baseball pitcher, and here he was asking to hang out with us.
After we walked past the official part of the carpet, the premier opened up into a tail gate party to go with the baseball theme of the movie. The area was littered with sports greats like Barry Sanders, Dave Winfield, and Rollie Fingers. Plus, we were close enough to hang, and sometimes chat, with stars from the movies. My closest celebrity encounter was with two of Disney Channel’s up and coming stars. Bradley Steven Perry who played Gabe from Good Luck Charlie and Sabrina Carpenter who plays Maya Hart in the upcoming Girl Meets World.. Yes, I totally earned some fan points with the kids on that one.
We stuffed our faces with Krispy Kreme donuts, Pink’s Hot Dogs, and ,for the beer minded, Bud Light. There was a pitching cage where you could see how fast your fast ball was. This gal got up to 38 mph without even an warm up, so I figure the major leagues will be calling me any day now. (I am sure MLB is totally right on THAT one)
After the most epic tailgating party every, we got to take our seats in the legendary El Capitan Theater. I swear that theater gets more beautiful each time I visit. They had a peanuts guy tossing peanuts into the crowd, and an organist playing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” on the world famous El Capitan organ. Though we had already screened the movie, it was a once in a life time experience. I was sitting just aisles away from top name celebrities like Bill Paxton, Alan Arkin, Jon Hamm, and Lake Bell.
The whole experience has really moved me on so many different levels. The green carpet was something I will never forget, and Million Dollar Arm really touched my heart. It made me realize just how possible it is for dreams to come true. Look at me, just three years ago I was just a mom with a computer that thought it might be neat to start a blog. Now I am a blogger that has attended two red carpet premieres and interviewed many A list celebrities. Not sure which is more surreal, the fact that this is my life or the fact even after two trips I have still managed not to end up on TMZ!
Million Dollar Arm is an amazing film, and you MUST go see it! It’s sneaking into over 500 theaters all across the country this Saturday (5/10) and then premiering worldwide on 5/16. It’s a great film for the entire family. I’ve already seen it twice, and I am going to see it a third time with my entire family. It’s THAT good!
Want to learn more about Million Dollar Arm? Make sure to tune in later in the week for my film review, AND interviews with most of the cast including x, Jon Hamm, and the REAL JB Bernstein, Dinesh, and Rinku.

One of the highlights of my trip was meeting you. What a great time! You crack me up “a peanut guy” and “an organist playing”…um, that was Roger “Peanut Guy” Owens who has been pitching peanuts for the Dodgers forever and that “Organist”? She was Nancy Bea, who also plays the organ at Dodger Games..she is unique because she plays without a script…she plays based on what’s happening in the game and the crowd! It was awesome!!
xoxo

Julee, So glad you remembered their names because obviously names are NOT my thing lol. It was awesome to meet you to. What a better way to meet than at a red carpet right?!
