One of the things our family loves to do when warmer weather hits is to break out our picnic basket! It doesn’t matter if it’s a romantic picnic for two or a picnic for the whole family, we just love packing up everything we need for our picnic basket and heading to some of our favorite spots around the Twin Cities. The warmer months are so short here in Minneapolis that we really have to try and enjoy every ounce of sunshine that we can get.
One of our favorite spots to go is called Minehaha Falls. We used to live five minutes away from it, and got totally spoiled by it. It’s this beautiful water fall that is right inside the south Minneapolis city lines. It’s gorgeous and has a huge park all the way around. Loads of picnic tables, pavillions, and grass for you to spread out your perfect picnic with the kiddos. Now that we live a lot further north we don’t quite get down there as often, but I think it’s time to pull out our picnic basket and surprise the kids with a trip down to Minehaha falls.
Since it’s so far away for us now, I have to make sure we have everything we need to have the perfect picnic in our basket otherwise we have to run to the store to grab things. It’s not like we would be five minutes from home. We always try to stock our picnic basket with fun picnic games for the kids to entertain themselves and of course a comfy picnic blanket to put under my butt while they are having fun.
From our picnic family to yours, here’s picnic basket ideas for the best summer picnic ever! Hope you enjoy!

I’ve seen those wine glass holders and think they’re great, but most parks and venues don’t permit glass so you’ll have to use plastic wine glasses and bring box wine. I have a similar blanket, which is great for picnics and Fourth of July fireworks.
