Being from Savannah, Georgia, celebrating St Patrick’s Day is practically in your blood. We have the second largest celebration in the country. River Street is nothing but wall to wall people, and we even dye the main city fountain green in homage to our Irish roots. (Or our love of the adult beverage, who knows) Another way to have some fun is to whip up some St Patrick’s Day crafts for kids to join in the fun too!

St Patrick’s Day Craft: Pot ‘o Gold
To get this St Patrick’s Day craft started, you want to paint the inside and outside of the terra cotta black to make your ‘pot”. Set it aside.
While that is drying, cut out the belt going around the pot. I used a 1/4-1/2 inch wide strip of yellow construction paper that was about six inches long (it might vary for your pot) It’s always better to cut it longer and then measure it for your pot.
To make the little buckle, cut out a square that’s about 1 inch by 1/2-3/4 inches. Then cut out two smaller rectangles to make the holes of the buckle.
On just the OUTSIDE of the buckle, put a little bit of craft glue and sprinkle gold glitter. Allow to dry.
Grab your first strip, and run it through the buckle to put it on. (Optional secure it with a little bit of craft glue before putting it on the pot)
Once your pot is dry, flip it right side up. Wrap the belt around (it might rise up in the back) Secure it with craft glue. Allow to dry.
Then when it’s all dry, fill it with some cute chocolate coins! (You can fill it with all sorts of different treats too).
You can say a wee little leprechaun left it for them, or use them as party favors. They are super easy to make, and make St Patrick’s Day just a little bit more fun!
