Here in Minneapolis, we have a great foodie culture. To many we are known as the home to the Juicy Lucy. What is a Juicy Lucy? It’s one of the best stuffed burger recipes!
That’s where this Sweet and Spicy Cowboy stuffed burger recipes comes in. Be prepared to drool folks this recipe is one of my best yet, and it’s going to make you need a bib!
When I was growing up, summer time always meant that my dad would pull out the grill. There was just always something about grilling that gave the food so much added flavor.
Well that was unless my dad made some of his famous “chicken.” I use that term loosely because when my dad was younger, he was known for getting distracted and we tended to have chicken a la burnt to a crisp. We still give him crap today about how he used to torch the chicken all the day.
Thankfully after many years of burnt chicken, my dad hasn’t burnt food on the grill in a long time.
So you won’t suffer the same fate as my dad’s chicken, I am going to give you some really good tips to make the perfect stuffed burger! The first step to the perfect stuffed burger is to get a good hamburger press!
This makes sure that the patties are both the same thickness and will cook at the same rate. We grabbed this Weston hamburger press. I love it because it’s metal, and makes it more durable.
Plus, you can set how thick you want the burgers. We made each of our patties a little less than a 1/4 inch thick. That way the burgers would cook, and your stuffed burger wouldn’t be so big you couldn’t get it in your mouth.
Our family loves playing with flavors when making our stuffed burgers.
The second sure fire tip for the perfect hamburger is to preheat your grill. You want that baby smoking hot! Heat it up to about 500 degrees and then that’s when you put the burgers on! Not before.
You should cook the burger about 3-4 minutes on each side, DO NOT PRESS THEM, and then flip them once. On my grill, it took about 5-7 minutes each side, but that’s because my grill isn’t consistent. You want to give the stuffed burger enough time to cook through the meat and to melt the cheese on the inside. Now onto the recipe!
