Fall is one of the most glorious times of the year here in Minnesota. Though we are known for our long, hard winters we should be known for all the things to do in Minnesota during fall.
Oak, Maple, and Birch leaves are brilliant and color, and within just a short day trip or weekend getaway there are tons of fun things to do in Minnesota during fall.

5 Things to Do In Minnesota During Fall
Minnesota Renaissance Festival: This festival is one of our absolute favorites things to do in Minnesota. We go at least twice every year. What makes this festival so amazing? It’s an actual “kingdom” with solid structures, and as soon as you pass the gates you feel as though you’ve been transported to a new world. It’s fun for the whole family!
Gooseberry Falls State Park: Closer to Duluth, Gooseberry Falls State Park is filled with brilliant fall colors. Hike on the trails or bring a picnic to enjoy a quiet afternoon in the great outdoors. You can even check out their local beaches, you might find a great lakes agate that the region is known for.
Split Rock Lighthouse: This lighthouse has been in operation since 1905 has helped protect ships sailing on Lake Superior ever since. It’s an absolute picturesque lighthouse and the fall colors make it even more amazing!

Mall of America: I wouldn’t be a true Minnesotan if I didn’t list Mall of America. Fall is a great time to visit because the tourist season is over and kids are back in school which means smaller crowds. Want to make the most of your trip? Finding things to do during fall is the best, but having a fun ride makes the day trips even better. We recently had a chance to cruise in a 2017 Toyota Corolla on our trip to the Renaissance festival this year.
This fun, sporty ride made the hour-long trip down to Shakopee super comfy, which meant I had more energy to spend during the fun!
