This Zootopia post was part of an all expenses paid trip, but all fan girling is my own
Today is the day! Zootopia is released on DVD and BluRay. (Hey, that rhymed) If you haven’t seen Zootopia yet, now is your chance to buy Zootopia on DVD or Blu Ray! It’s a great movie, plus the DVD comes with all sorts of bonus features!
Zootopia is the story of Judy Hops, voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin, a bunny who has big dreams. Despite the views of her parents, she wants to move to Zootopia and become it’s first bunny police officer. She faces lots of obstacles in her way to realizing her dreams, but she’s not going to let anything or anyone stop her from becoming a police officer.
One of the main reasons I absolutely love Zootopia is it talks about a very sensitive topic, bias. Zootopia talks about bias in a way that helps you talk to your kids about bias, and its not in a preachy kind of way. The filmmakers do it by talking about the relationships between predator and prey that are now living together rather than in a heirarchy like we know today.
There are points when they are tongue in cheek with the stereotypes, like when Judy finds out that all the DMV employees are sloths. Sometimes in the real world it feels like that doesn’t it. Other times, they share how people believing in stereotypes can cause lots of harm to residents of Zootopia.
All in all, this is a movie that our family is very proud to own. It was really neat to take a look at the bonus features with my kids because we were able to get a sneak peek of the bonus features when we interviewed the Zootopia directors and producer.
That’s why you need to run and buy Zootopia on Blu Ray and DVD! You get the movie, plus a digital copy (if you want one), and you get to see all the awesome bonus features! Here are some of the features:
