With my boys home for the summer we are looking for new projects and activities to do together that will keep them entertained with more than tv and video games. Today they made some lady bug bottle cap magnets on their own (with directions from Mom) and I think they turned out pretty cute. They decided to use their new bottle cap bug magnets on their calendars to mark special days.
This was a very easy craft that was inexpensive and simple to make. I hope you enjoy!
How to make a Bottle Top Bug Magnet
This is one of the easiest projects that I have made with my kids and requires only a couple materials to make.
What you need
- Bottle Tops
- Paint
- Paint Brush
- Google Eyes
Directions
Step 1 – Paint your bottle tops with the color of paint that you would like your bugs to be. Get creative! My boys painted two colors that resembled lady bugs.
Step 2 – Let your paint dry before adding the google eyes with a drop of hot glue.
Step 3 – Hot glue a magnet on the underside of the bottle cap and use on any magnetic surface
After making these Bottle Top Bug Magnets, I started thinking of different ways we could use these and I came up with a couple more ideas.
Other ways to use Bottle Top Magnets
- Make a bunch as use a teacher gift
- Put the Alphabet on them and let younger kids make words
- Chore Charts, I could see lots of uses
Do you have any other ideas? I would love to hear how you would use the bottle top magnets.
