Isn’t it funny how you can be so busy you can’t think straight, but at the same time find that you are bored out of your mind.
3 Tips to Fight Boredom for Busy Moms
When I’m stressed, and don’t take time for myself, I find that my boredom level is through the roof.
Frustrated that I don’t have a lot of time for myself, I turn to simple ways that I can incorporate into my day to make it feel like I can get away for just a few seconds.
Anytime I read posts about how to fight boredom, it’s normally tips on how to fight boredom for kids.
You know what? Moms struggle with boredom sometimes too!
When the boredom monster hits, I find that it’s really important for me to have a few tricks up my sleeve to take some time out and do things I enjoy.
You guys know I’m all about finding time for me time, and this is one of my me time life hacks. These 3 tips to fight boredom are tried and tested ways that I keep my mind busy, even when I’m on the go playing mom taxi.
1. Play Solitaire: This may sound cheesy, but doing something as simple as playing Pyramid Solitaire on my phone really helps me beat boredom.
I’ve played it waiting in the car for the kids. I’ve played it in the waiting room of doctor’s offices. I’ve played it waiting for a friend to show up for a lunch date.
It’s a fun game by MobilityWare that’s free to play, and can help you relax and pass some time.
I’m a dork when it comes to customization, so I love that I can even customize my screens while I play. (Yep, I’m easily satisfied)

2. Meditate: This is probably not something you’d think would beat boredom, but you are so wrong. Meditation is a great way to clear your mind (or at least slow it down) and focus on something other than how bored you are.
You don’t have to do anything fancy to meditate. The only job you have is to focus on your breaths. Don’t worry about “keeping your mind clear” just focus on your breaths and feel the zen wash over your body.
3. Doodle: I’m a crazy doodler. When I’m sitting in waiting rooms, I try to have a piece of scratch paper with me so I can just mindlessly doodle.
Weirdly enough, doodling helps me focus more than you would think it would. Most people think of doodling and assume you aren’t paying attention.
Me, the weirdo that I am, actually feels calmer and thinks clearer when I take some time to mindlessly sketch.
