Sometimes being a mom can really run you down and make you feel less than confident. That is even truer when you feel like a dumpy, old slowly dripping faucet. (Yeah, for bladder leakage) Gals, I am here to tell you that it’s time to boost your confidence and steal back your awesome!
That is a brave, courageous thing and you are an amazing, confident creature. You just have to know how to find your awesome again.
When my kids were first born, it was so hard to know what day of the week it was let alone to have time to take care of myself and feel confident. It was a victorious day when I changed my underwear, brushed my hair, and managed to keep the kids alive that day. After a while though, I noticed my confidence just kept going down, down, down. I felt like a former shell of myself.
There were times I would look in the mirror and wonder who was this caged animal staring back at me in the mirror. That’s when I had decided that enough is enough. I was gonna take charge of my self-esteem, and even if it killed me, fake confidence until I actually was confident once again! Now you guys can learn from my journey, and learn to boost your confidence again when you are feeling less than awesome.
9 Tips to Boost Your Confidence
Work on your positive self talk: Even before you ever worry about your appearance, you have to work on how you think about yourself. Stop all that negative nelly self-talk! Even if you don’t believe it talk to yourself like you think you rock.
Always be prepared: As moms, we deal with crazy period cycles and of course light bladder leakage! A sure-fire way to get down in the dumps is to not be prepared for those days your bladder becomes enemy number 1.
Find the Humor in Life: Life is too short not to find the humor in it. If you find the humor in your life, yourself, and your situations you encounter you won’t take those chances to take pot shots are you! Plus, thinking about the fact you pee yourself way before you are in your 70s, has to be funny or you might be rocking yourself in a corner.
Find Your Own Style: Stop looking outside for advice on your looks. Stop looking at the models and the ads. Ask yourself ‘what do I like?” If you have no flipping clue, girl, it’s time to figure that out! Finding your own style, and what makes you feel amazing, is so much fun and it boosts your confidence!
Dare to be Different: Now that you’ve found your style, dare to be different. .That’s what a quirky, inspired life is all about. Daring to be that odd duck and rocking your life like you own the joint!
Find Your Own Tribe of Weirdos: Surrounding yourself with the right people is huge! Find your own tribe of weirdos; Those people that love you for you, and have your back no matter what. They are a great support system for the days you aren’t feeling so confident and will give you that tough love you need to find your awesome again.
Stop The Comparing: STOP. THE. COMPARING. This is probably the biggest pet peeve I have about moms. We are always comparing. We compare our houses, we compare our kids, we compare our bodies! STOP. THE. INSANITY. This is your journey, no one else’s , and it’s not going to look like anyone else’s journey! Stop using other people to knock you on your butt! You can be awesome at the same time they are awesome too ;).
Smile: This one sounds kinda silly, but even when you don’t feel like smiling, try to smile. (Or at least giggle like you are thinking of a dirty joke) It will not only make you feel more confident, but it will keep those around you wondering what is that girl up to. (That’s always fun too!)
The ever cliche, fake it until you make it: Confidence isn’t built overnight. It is cliche to say this, but it is so true! Fake it until you make it. Not for the sake of others, but just so you get moving on building your self-esteem. Even though you may not wholeheartedly believe you are awesome yet. Have faith, and fake it like you do. Eventually, you won’t be faking it anymore, and you will truly know you are an awesome, confident chick!
