I was recently able to try the 2010 Conservancy Crimson and Clover from Concannon, and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. First off, I will freely admit that my love of wine usually ends with the white and blush families. Their citrusy, fruity sensibility does wonders for my taste buds.
Most companies would probably not like me to tell you it took a little convincing for me to try this red table wine, but red wine is not normally my forte! Trying to expand my horizons, I figured it was now or never.
I aired my bottle, put on my comfy slippers, and poured my first glass. The first thing that hit me was the amazing aroma this red wine had; instantly transporting me to deep lush wood of forest in a long lost mountain range. The smell of Earth whisping past my nostrils and taking me to the land of Nod. The flavor was just as smooth and dream worthy from the very first sip.
The themes of oak and olive were most dramatic to my tastebuds, and perfectly set off the flavors of my favorite filet mignon. After trying Concannon myself, I knew I had to share it with a friend of mine that absolutely loves her reds. The Crimson and Clover reflects the deep, robust Irish pride that runs in the Concannon family, and is a truly unique blend comprised of 50% Petite Sirah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Sirah, and 10% Zinfandel.
Even touching my heart further, all the Concannon Conservancy wines are made from grapes that are 100% grown in Livermore vineyards that are protected from urban sprawl. The Tri-Valley Conservancy now has over 3,100 acres of beautiful land forever protected from urban development.
