I did receive an all expenses paid trip to Disneyland and Los Angeles, but all awe and wonder are my own.
It’s been twelve years since my one and only trip to Disneyland. Having grown up on the east coast, we always went to Walt Disney World. That’s why it was a super special treat to head to Disneyland for the day with 24 other awesome mom bloggers, and check out the Tomorrowland Sneak Peak at Disneyland. On top of that, Disneyland is also gearing up for their Diamond Celebration! They’ve been open for sixty years this year, and we had a first hand chance to check out what that celebration is going to be all about!
Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration
Disneyland has been open for 60 years this year. That is such an accomplishment. It really hit home when we were at the Disney archives and got to see the VERY first ticket sold to Disneyland! That was a complete honor (make sure to come back and read the post about our visit to the Disney archives). To celebrate the 60 years of Disneyland, their Diamond Celebration begins May 22nd!
On May 22nd, Disneyland will feature a new “Paint the Night” parade and “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular at Disneyland Park, and the all-new “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” at Disney California Adventure Park. In “World of Color – Celebrate!,” Mickey Mouse and award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris will tell the story of Walt Disney and the Happiest Place on Earth with film, animation, music and spectacular fountains. You know Disney never does anything half way, so this 60th anniversary celebration is going to be awesome. We already had a chance to see Sleeping Beauty’s castle all blinged out for the celebration! With all the celebration, and the opening of Tomorrowland on May 22nd, it’s sure to be a great day at Disneyland.
Tomorrowland Sneak Peak Adventure
The first night we were in Los Angeles we had a chance to be the first group ever to screen Tomorrowland. That’s why seeing the Tomorrowland sneak peak at Disneyland was so cool. As you walked up to the theater showing the preview, they had all sorts of neat things along the wall; posters from the 1965 World’s fair, pictures of filming the film, and even some ideas that Walt had about what Tomorrowland would look like.
The preview was about 12 minutes long, so we had a while to wait for the next show. Having all the neat things along the walk way, was a really cool way to spend time while we waited. Since we had already screened the movie, it gave us even more points of reference how the director Brad Bird helped bring Walt Disney’s ideas to life on the big screen.
The Tomorrowland sneak peak was in the old Captain EO theater in Tomorrowland. It’s been such a long time since, I’d seen that movie I had forget that it was one of those theaters that made you feel like you were in the movie! Including movements and wind in your face like you are flying. (Nothing too crazy for those that get wary of motion rides)
The sneak peak features the first 12 minutes of the film, and ends with an amazing trailer that will have you biting at the bit to see Tomorrowland when it opens on May 22nd. It had me so excited that I couldn’t wait to see Tomorrowland again with my kids. I know they are going to love it.
After the sneak peak was over, we had a chance to check out even more awesome Tomorrowland goodies. Make sure to check back for the second post about the Tomorrowland sneak peak, and see what awesome things we got to check out once we were done with the Tomorrowland sneak peak. Until then, check out this cool featurette from Tomorrowland
