It’s that time of the year when we are looking for fun things to do outdoors. Here in Minnesota the time that we see the sun is so short that you better believe that we are the masters of fun things to do outdoors. Heck, we are even the master of what to do when there is 10 feet of snow on the ground. That’s why we definitely know how to make the most of our great outdoors and love getting our hands dirty.
This year is going to be even more hectic. We are officially buying our first home. My fun things to do outdoors this year are going to mainly consist of painting my new shed and staining my new deck. Ok, so that doesn’t SOUND like that much fun, but the fact that we are going to have a home that we can call our own makes a huge difference. It takes the fun factor to an 11! (Yep, I live the exciting life)
In all seriousness, being a Girl Scout for almost 15 years really taught me some fun things to do outdoors. It doesn’t matter whether you are doing a yoga meditation in a local park or digging your fingernails in the dirt of your garden, the most important thing is to have fun and GET DIRTY. In my book, there is no fun to be had if some part of you isn’t covered in dirt, paint, or some other sludge you came across in your outdoor adventures. If we are outside, we know that we are going to get dirty, so that’s why we sling some Wet Ones® Hand Wipes in our daypacks to make sure we can wash off the gunk even if there isn’t a sink for miles.
For this summer, I went to Wal-Mart and really stocked up on Wet Ones® Hand Wipes. We love them because they are hypoallergenic, which is really important when you have a child with tons of allergies, plus they get 99.99% of the germs off your fingers. They can conquer anything from drippy ice cream cones to grime from picking up new found wildlife friends to getting paint off your hands after you spend a day painting with the kids. Our favorite ones are the Wet Ones® Hand Wipes on the go packets. They travel perfectly no matter what adventure you are up to, and even have a re-sealable package so they stay ready to use for your next expedition.
Finding fun things to do outdoors also brings the family together too. Our family has been doing these things for years, and each time we come back with more great memories. Sure it sounds like a cheese fest, but I really think it’s one of the main reason our teenagers actually still treat us like human beings. We all enjoy the time to get away and unplug even if it’s just for the day. I polled the family and these were our top 50+ fun things to do outdoors. It’s a great list to get your adventure and mess on that helps us bond with the teenagers! We even left some references for you so you can find fun outdoor activities near you!

I love some of these ideas. I feel like my family doesn’t get outdoors enough and probably because I’m not always sure what everyone will enjoy. We could easily start simple with a picnic.

I love Wet Ones! I brought them with me when we flew to the other side of the world. On the airplane it was so nice to have them wipe her hands off whenever we eat a snack or a meal.

Great list of fun activities to keep the kids going all summer long. My daughter is now in the teenage years and it is slightly more difficult to keep them amused.

We like to go to the beach in the summer. The kids love it and we have a great beach about 20 minutes from our house. I bring a tent so we have some shade and a spot for the kids to have a nap.
