What is a martini? Let me help you learn about the marvelous martini. A classic martini has 2 ingredients: gin and vermouth. The classic martini is dry, meaning that it isn’t sweet. (Not fret yet, we have tons of sweet martinis below for you)
Over the years, people have switched the gin out with vodka, added splashes of liqueurs, and made a whole new revolution of martini recipes. (Though technically if the martini has vodka in it, it’s now a vodka martini)
Some people think that simply throwing any cocktail recipe in a martini glass makes it a martini, but as far as this gal is concerned to be labeled a “martini” you easy martini recipes have to at least have gin or vodka in them.
Otherwise, it’s just an imposter in a martini glass! (I’m onto you all you martini fakers out there!)
