There is something about the combination of caramel and apples that is a match made in heaven. I’ve always been a sucker for caramel, and have been meaning to play bartender for a little bit. Usually I’m a Moscato kind of girl, but every now and again momma needs something a little bit stronger. (Don’t judge, you know you have those days too)
When hubby and I went out for our fourth anniversary, he took me to this great little restaurant for dinner, and they had the most amazing martinis. I never thought I would be a martini girl because I had always heard they were pretty much straight alcohol. Being a total whimp, when it comes to tasting alcohol, they weren’t something I ever thought I would enjoy. That all changed when I tried a Flirtini at this restaurant. It was made with fresh raspberries in it, and it was so awesome I wanted to lick the glass.
That night, I might or might not have had more than one of those Flirtinis, and left at 6pm 2 sheets to the wind. (Nothing like trying to act sober because it was barely late enough to drink) That anniversary dinner was my turning point in my relationship with martinis. From then on out, if there is a creative spin on the classic martini I’ve given it a whirl. Some of them have been fantastic. Some of them not so great.
That’s why I’ve taken to making my own martini concoctions. This caramel apple martini was made with my homemade caramel sauce (recipe to come later), and did leave me licking the glass! It’s like a caramel apple at the local fair with a big kick 😉 Brace your tastebuds, and remember there is alcohol in it because it’s a really smooth drink and could get you in a lot of trouble.Print
